Duckpin bowling is a variation of traditional ten-pin bowling, but with smaller pins and a smaller ball, which makes it more challenging. The pins are shorter and squatter, and the ball doesn't have any finger holes.
Ball size: Duckpin bowling uses a smaller ball (typically 4.75 to 5 inches in diameter) without finger holes.
Pin size: The pins are smaller and lighter.
Frames: Players get three rolls per frame instead of two.
Scoring: Scoring is the same as ten-pin bowling, but the extra roll per frame increases the chances of knocking down all pins.
The scoring system is the same as traditional bowling. A strike (knocking all pins down with the first ball) is worth 10 points, plus the total of your next two rolls. A spare (knocking all pins down with two rolls) is worth 10 points, plus your next roll. If you fail to knock all the pins down after three rolls, your score is the number of pins knocked down.
Duckpin bowling balls typically weigh between 3 pounds 6 ounces and 3 pounds 12 ounces (1.5 to 1.7 kg).
